I was looking forward to this program a lot due to the spectacular adverts. I was not disappointed.
Heston Blumenthal started a four-week series called Heston’s Feasts last night on Channel 4 that will see him conjuring up various gastronomical banquets, taking inspiration from the past along the way and it started with the Victorians. Basically, this program is set up for Heston to do what he does best – dick around with food and make it fun. He made a ‘drink me’ potion comprised of five separate things like cherry pie and turkey. He made an entire edible garden with bugs on it. He made a pudding made with absinthe and dildos. You won’t find stuff like this on Ready Steady Cook in the near future.
I think what last night did was demonstrate how much of a genius this man is. Completely bonkers and insane, but a genius nonetheless. The past two programs he has had on TV were either dull (In Search Of Perfection) or just another campaign show (Big Chef Takes On Little Chef). This is his perfect vehicle. Every process he goes through to create his feast is literally like a mad professor assembling the pieces in creating some sort of machine that alters time. I mean, he is injecting bugs with flavourings for crying out loud! With a syringe! What kind of mentalist does that?!
This is easily the most stupidest and fun food show for a long time. I’m just gutted that there are only four episodes.
Completely agree! Absolutely fantastic programme! I could watch episodes of this all day every day, I just wish there were more! =)
