For a long time now I’ve had a basic Nokia mobile phone because all I need a phone to do is talk and text. That’s what I thought. Now I realise that if I’m going to be a ‘proper journalist’ so to speak then I need something like a smartphone that has internet access, e-mail, maps and the like to help me. I’m not saying that I’m definitely getting an iPhone, despite it being incredibly tempting – at £349 for the pay as you go price plan (I figured that the 18 month contract on the cheapest tariffs would cost more than pay as you go price plan) it has me aghast at its value.
So the question is this, since I know nothing about smartphones: what else is there in the market and is there any other recommended, but affordable, model?
