Regina Spektor – Machine

I managed to take another video on the new camera. I’m still finding my feet in terms of photos but my word the video it captures is pretty good for what it is. I need to some video from the barrier or something next time because it could even better. For now, here is a good video of Regina Spektor performing Machine from latest album Far at Hyde Park last night:

Sunset at Hyde Park

Hyde Park

Today was an absolutely delightful day. It feels like ages since we’ve had this kind of weather following the two pretty miserable and dull summers that we’ve had before this year. It felt like God was a fan of Regina Spektor and decided to show his adoration by giving Londoners a concert in wonderful evening sunshine.

MJ: Out Of Stock

MJ

I think the above picture sums up the fallout to the tragic death of Michael Jackson pretty well. Among a trip to HMV in London I had a browse around as usual when I’m in stores that sell music and found the slot where his CDs would usually be. To no surprise of me or Aino, there was nothing. When I paid for my items at the checkout I asked the person there how long it had taken the CDs to sell out when they opened on Friday and she said that it was merely a few hours, since they had a lot of CDs anyway in stock. A lot has been asked of the way in which people want to remember him and things like this prove that the answer is pretty simple – the music.

Other than the trip to HMV, me and Aino just spent the afternoon roaming around the shops of central London before making our way back home. Whilst we were on the train I was subjected to a wonderful display of thunder and lightning that was hitting the East of the capital. God bless summer.

Goodbye Mosely

Max Mosely

Over the weekend I bemoaned at the state of F1 and said that he needed to go. I had massive delight when I looked in my copy of The Times to see a big double page spread about his departure. What I wasn’t expecting was the paper’s nearly overly-positive take on Mosely’s departure, saying that without him F1 will be a duller place. Really? Is Max Mosely the biggest character in Formula 1? If he is then may God have mercy on us all. There are a lot of people in sport in high positions I don’t like…Richard Scudamore, Sepp Blatter and the like. But Max Mosely had such an autocratic stranglehold on the sport that it was almost impossible to like him. Yes, he made some good changes and no, The Times were not saying that the sport is totally at a loss without him…but I can’t say I’m mourning his removal from his post.

Brighton

My girlfriend had a disposable camera with her last month and she took this lovely shot. Needless to say it’s pretty damn nice outside right now but nothing beats seaside sunshine.
