ITV’s ‘special’ way of showing films

Casino Royale

So tonight ITV will be showing Casino Royale in a network premiere. I imagine that it’s the only film that could beat the first Lord Of The Rings on Channel 4 (and let’s be honest, whenever Channel 4 pump out that franchise in the schedule it’s an admission of not being able to think of anything to put on). However, I will not be watching it. Why? Because it’s going to be an interrupted by a bloody news bulletin.

I have never, ever, got why ITV continually punish the viewer like this. Who the hell wants to learn the latest news in the middle of a film? Films are meant to be a form of escapism – you don’t want to be brought back down to Earth with the sound of an exaggerative ITV newsreader. Otherwise, what’s the point of even watching it if you know that it’s going to ruin the mood?
